  1. I have NO idea! They look similar to brushing boots but made from a waterproof type of material - easy to keep clean I suppose but I don't like them - and I'm certain my horse wouldn't either LOL.

  2. Fly boots - probably the same mesh material that fly masks are made from. I couldn't tell you what brand though. They (as the name would suggest) keep flies off of the horses legs.

  3. If those ARE fly boots, wouldn't they be just as annoying as the flies themselves?  Seems like either one would necessitate a lot of stomping.

  4. I'm pretty certain they are fly boots, but i have to agree with 1024....How the heck do they not annoy the crapola out of your horse?!..... And they are so loose on the top flies could fly right in their and have at your horses leg anyway....

I could understand protection from mud and muck, I suppose.... Saddle sore, the ones on this horse must be home-made or something...LOL They look so odd!! The link you posted are of fly boots that look like they actually do the job.

  5. The other answers seem to be right, they are "fly boots"

"They protect from biting insects, mud, sand and dirt and are useful for protecting wounds or as a covering over leg wraps for extra protection while shipping."

Weird!!!!! Can't see them being much use when it comes to insects, maybe to protect from sand though?

EDIT: Boot covers.... I didn't think of that, I suppose that is logical if you have expensive boots. Whatever they are, I think they are a homemade version!

  6. Mud boots to treat scratches???

  7. Fly boots to keep the flys from biting the horses lower legs and so the horse does not stomp to remove the flys. They help protect the leg and hoof.

I have a pair from one of my horses but mine fit tighter and are more of a mesh type material.

  8. Fly boots?  They look hot.  I would take them off and just spray the horse with fly spray.

  9. could be a few things, first glance appears to be fly boots but then they aren't quite as "meshy" looking as the fly boots or wraps i sell. Second thought is maybe they are boot covers. I have covers that go over top of my classic equine splint and hind boots to protect them from dirt and damages if i am not showing. You put the boot on the horse as you normally would and then slip the boot covers over them and attach. Without actaully getting my hands on them I really have no clue.

  10. I saw that question and saw those "things" too, and was curious except I didn't ask.  "I'm shy"!!

I thought they looked like some sort of therapeutic boot..sort of like a poultice boot without feet!!

If you list the question or if you haven't already asked, perhaps we could ask and find out???

Maybe they are safety boots for when the horse directs traffic in the pasture so everyone sees

the hand and foot movements?  Just an intellegent thought!

  11. They look like transport wraps to me.  Some horses get really nervous in the trailer & dance around  enough to skin up their own legs.  The wraps help cut down on the damage.

  12. We had fly leg wraps sort of like that to prevent flies, but those look really odd.  We tried ours on an arab mare we had because her white legs kept being attacked by horse flies. left little blood trails daily.  Unfortunately they do not seem to work well for a horse on pasture 24/7.  Fancy would scrape hers off every couple of hours so we gave up.

Our fly wraps were mesh not solid fabric.

  13. not really sure. I have never seen boots that loose fitting before. They are some type of leg protection of course but I am not sure of the purpose since they do not seem to offer any support. Maybe medical use? or inexpensive disposable leg protection? They remind me of big yellow rain boots

  14. Not sure, but must be something from america.  They do not seem to be very secure to me, and I would have though dangerous as they are soo loose and could slide down and get caught somewhere.
