What are these tables and whatnot i keep hearing about?

My uncle and his workbuddies, or my stepdad and the guys in the bar, create these tables where they bet on sports (I think they may have been called spreads too) but they all throw money into this pot and winner takes the winnings. I hear about them all the time at peoples works or whatever. what is the correct name for these, where can i learn about them online, what are the rules and is there anywhere online i can see examples, or have blank ones... etc., etc.?

well they are typically called POOLS.

Like a hockey pool or football pool.

Maybe do a google search for HOW to START a Sports pool?
