I got these wraps used at a tack store. They were labeled as polo wraps, but they aren't made of fleece. The feel and look like neoprene that is supposed to go next to the horse's leg, but on the out side it is like track bandage material. What are these things and what are they for?

  1. I would guess that they're polo or stable bandages. In most cases people use them for medical purposes, but I've used them for trailering too. Tack shops sell things called "leg wraps" but when they're open they just look like a really flat pillow type thing, and they're usually paired with stable bandages. For trailering I wrap the "leg wrap" around the horse's legs, and then wrap the bandage over the top like a polo wrap.

My trainer always advised me not to use them alone like a polo wrap, but I haven't had too much experience working with them. Without seeing a picture of them I can't be sure if that's what they are but that would be my best guess.

  2. Sorry can you be more specific or put a picture or something?

  3. Could they be sports medicine boots?  If so, they are made to provide extra support post-injury or for prevention of injury.

  4. any chance you could take a picture and put a link onto the question so i can see what you mean?
