What are these tiny bugs in my food pantry?

I looked in my pantry yesterday for the brown rice, and there were little bugs in it, I would say they are about the size of the inside of a sunflower seed. They are black, and I actually noticed them in two boxes of Jiffy cornbread a couple of months ago, but never thought anything of it until I saw it again yesterday. They are beginning to appear in all my cardboard, or anything like my grits, etc. What are these and how to get rid of them?

  1. Doesn't matter what they are, they have to go. Toss everything in the way of grains, cereal, flour, rice, give the cupboards a thorough washing and airing, even vacuum into the corners, and when you buy new food store it in plastic or glass containers with tight lids, right away. That way, if they arrive with some food product, at least they can't spread to everything else.

  2. Time to clean out all boxed goods from your pantry, clean all the shelves with some soapy bleach water, and start again. The have probably layed eggs in the hidden flaps of all the boxes, and will just keep spreading. Make sure that you put the old stuff in sealed plastic bags, and get them out of your house.
