Question:

What are these tiny little black dots crawling in my room?

I keep finding these tiny little bugs (they literally look like crawling black/brown dots). I find them on my laptop, on my bed, I've even found a few on myself! This is really all the specifics I can give. I think they might be wood mites since I found five or six crawling on a drying rack in my room (although I'm only living here for this summer, the drying rack was left behind by the person who stayed in the room before me). I have been living here for the past three weeks, but I just noticed these things on Monday. What could they possible be, and how can I get rid of them?

  1. bedbugs...

  2. They're not bed bugs.  Bed bugs are a 1/4th of an inch long, paper thin, fear light and are active from 4am to dawn.

They're probably not fleas since you've seen them crawling, instead of jumping around.

I think they're some sort of mite.  Have any of them bitten you?

  3. I just love to read the answers to questions before I reply.  Contact your local (there) Chamber of Commerce and ask them who you can call to identify an infestation.  It's an Agricultural type of place that usually has small stations posted in towns.  Catch a few in a zippy bag and take the bag up there.  They will tell you what it is and how to rid the house of them.
