What are they going to change on Space Mountain?

I heard that Disney World is refurbishing Space Mountain and I was wondering what they were going to do with it.

They're doing a basic refurbishment and then putting a more rock and roll music theme into the coaster. They're basically going to make it exactly like Space Mountain in Disneyland which is supposed to be much better. It's going to be under refurb. for about a year once they start.

not much. i heard that they chaged thew wall to the entrance by that statue of the planet to make it look more open. they all have two options to the ridde half throttle (less harsh) full throttle (more ijntense).

Jessayy is thinking about Mission: Space.  While I don't have any info relating to this closure, based on Pink's answer I may be of some help.

I worked at Disneyland when Space Mountain there was redone.  The back of the show building (Disney-speak for the building the ride is in) faced Disneyland's main employee diner/break area, so we would spend our breaks watching the work.

What was done at Disneyland is this:  Due to the new cars weighing more than the old cars the old track had to be removed, the building foundation being enhanced for more weight, and new track in an identical layout was installed.

he workers were very secretive (or, if not, deliberately misleading).  If we asked what was going to be different they would talk about loops, bigger drops, etc, which were not there when Space Mountain re-opened (they had signed confidentiality agreements, so were not allowed to tell us the truth).

So whether Orlando's Space Mountain will be redesigned to be like Disneyland's or not is up in the air.  They may be doing the same thing, pulling out the track to shore up the foundation and reinstall new stronger track in the exact configuration it was before.

I hope they keep their own track layout.  I like having small differences between the parks' similar rides.
