What are things you really would have like to have learned in school?

I would like to start an independent school. I have my own vision, but I would love to hear what you found missing in your K-12 education or what you want for your children.

Honestly, I would've liked to learn more about the universe/other planets.

For Science, I think it would've been a good idea for my teachers to say, "Write down any questions you have about anything (like the body systems, etc.) and we'll go through them every Friday" or something. The only way people learn is by asking questions, and listening to the answers. Plus, some kids feel foolish to ask questions because it might make them feel dumb, but they could feel more comfortable if their teachers encouraged it. Just an idea =p

For English, I wish that my teachers would let us interpret novels in our own way. My teachers just pretty much told us what the significance of everything was, and I wish I could analyze literature myself.

In History, I would like to learn more about current events. It's important to learn about the past, but there are so many kids (and even adults!) that don't know what other countries are going through in the present.

There's not much about math =p That's pretty basic. Maybe how the things I learned can relate to real/every day life?

gymnastics as a school sport

a course in real life jobs, like marketing, Radio announcer, parenting,engineering or machanics,

more science stuff that bridges to math and every day
