What are those bars called on bike wheels to put your feet on?

The ones that go right in the middle of your front and back wheels and someone can put their feet on, and also can you put those on any bike or do you have to buy a special bike that already has them on?

They are called pegs, and you can buy a bike with them already on it, or you can buy them and add them on later, but make sure they will fit your bike before you buy them.

They're called pegs, and they're for doing tricks... not for resting your feet.  You can put them on a bike yourself but they're generally for freestyle bikes.
