What are those black things towards the rear on both sides on a jet ski called?

  1. Okay...I read this question yesterday & I've been going nuts trying to find the correct answer. I work in the marine industry, you think someone around me would know...

    Anyway, I do believe there is a technical term for them, but for now, I'm gonna go with "side fins". They're basically for stability when turning under high speeds.

  2. They are called Sponsons and they are used for "traction" in turns. They are a "neccessity" soon realized once you operate a ski with them removed! Best of luck!
