  1. what gray things are you talking about?

    at the main terminal there are nothing but cross connect wires to connect the F1 to the F2, at the block terminal there are only terminals to connect to the drop wire, the drop wire has metal p-clamps to hold the wire to the j-hook, or span clamp (pig tail). at the NID there is a 1/2 ringer on a small circuit board (which I never install, and remove whenever I do a repair) the circuit board is normally yellow in color... from there it runs into your inside wire, and phone jacks, which only have s***w on terminals...

    perhaps you are speaking of scotch locks, or pick-a-bonds...

    scotcchlocks are a water proof connnector that installation and repair telephone techs use to connect 2 or more wires together it makes a better splice then twisting and taping the wire..

    pick-a-bonds are used by telephone cable splicers, they serve a similar purpose as scotch-locks but require a special tool to install them...


  2. I think you are referring to the ferrite beads. They are in torroidal shapes and the material is similar to a magnet? They are there so that your phone will not interfer with your other appliances.
