What are those little Spanish sandwiches called?

I was in Spain at the beginning of the summer and we went to this restaurant where they gave you a menu (looked sort of like a sushi menu) and you ordered these relatively tiny sandwiches with meat/fish/vegetables on them.

Does anyone know what these are called?

They are called bocadillos (or bocatas).

It sounds like you had montaditos.

Montaditos are typical from the Basque Country, it's a small piece of bread with something on top (meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, etc.)

Tapas is a much more generic word, it can be anything you have in small quantities.

Well, it sounds like you went to a tapas bar, which is where they serve small plates, kind of like appetizers.
