What are those people called who travel the world helping/protecting endangered species?

I ask this because I want to go back to school and study in this field. When I was little I knew what they were called, and always wanted to do it. But, I simply can't remember what they are called. I've searched all over the net. It's a word like "Archeology" or "Zoology" but it's not one of those things. They travel the world looking for endangered species, helping and protecting them, and sometimes even track them to keep an eye on them. What are they called? Please any help would be appreciated.

They are called whatever they choose to be called. Any of the above names can be used. It depends on your education and field of expertise. You could even be called a photographer in some situations. If you are interested in that field of work check out some of the periodicals like National Geographic that sponsor people to do that kind of work.

Wildlife biologist, Field biologist or zoologist.  Most people that do this work do not travel the world..there are very few organizations that employ people to do this.  You would most likely work with one organization and you may have opportunity to travel..but not ALL over the world.  If you do work as an independent contractor or as a seasonal worker, there is a lot more traveling involved.  Working seasonally allows you to travel anywhere and everywhere in the world that you want..but pay for seasonal workers is very low.  You would need to go back to school and major in one of these topics:  biology, zoology, wildlife management, wildlife and fisheries science, etc.
