I recently went to a japanese resteraunt and had a delicious dish called yakiudon. In it, they used a noolde that I've seen in certain other japanese dishes, but I've never been able to discover the name of the noodle. They are very thick and almost tubular. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? I'd love to buy them if I can find the name. Thanks so much!

  1. It is called Udon. Yaki is the word for fried, and yakiudon means stirfried Udon noodles. You can buy them dried in Asian food marts.

  2. Udon.  These are usually sold in plastic bags as they are fresh wheat noodles which can be added directly to dishes without boiling them first.  The 'yaki' part of yakiudon means fried, as in okonomiyaki.

  3. Hi!

I am asian and the noodle you are talking about is "UDON" noodle. The texture is thick, smooth and white in color.
