I am trying to figure out what those things are called. On the weekends when i am at work i do not have an internet signal that my laptop can pick up. What are those things called that you plug into your computer and you can connect to the internet and use your computer as usual? I have AT&T cell phone service. And Cox DSL service at my home.

Thank you in advance.

  2. Are you referring to wireless cards that come with broadband service packages from wireless carriers? That's the only thing that comes to mind. If you don't have a signal on your laptop's internal wireless card, you might not get one on a broadband network with the external card, either. Check for coverage.

  3. EVDO card

  4. access point?

    hotspot?

    wifi something?

  5. To set up a network you would need a wireless network adapter and a wireless router.
