What are those things people wear on their shoes on ice to prevent them from falling?

i've seen people wear them on their shoes at ice skating rinks. what are they called and where can i buy them from?

You might have to describe this a bit more.  What do these things look like?  Do people wear them on their sneakers, or on their ice skates?  

Are you maybe talking about skate guards?  If so, those are the hard plastic things that fit over figure skate blades.  However, you only wear them when you're walking around off-ice (to protect the blades from dirt, etc.).  If you try to wear them on-ice, you fall down rather spectacularly.  You can buy skate guards at any figure skating shop or website.

you mean the spokes? hockey coaches wear them i know, and my figure skating coach only wears them when he doesnt want to skate. but you can prolly buy them online at a hockey store or maybe eBay
