What are those wooden looking decorative curls called???

i am trying to find the long, decorative curls that i have seen used in vases, centerpieces, etc....they look like raffia or wood, but other than that i don't really know how else to describe them.

does ANYONE know what i'm talking about? what are these things called? i've seen them all over- pier 1, west elm, even walmart!
