  1. Advantages;  Without tourism the bahamas would have huge unemployment since the island is almost completely dependent on tourism for jobs.  infrastructure on the islands is also able to be improved because of tourism - meaning roads, bridges, electricity, etc.

Disadvantages are pollution - there are tons of cruise ships that dock in nassau and the smell from the ships motors is awful.  Pollution affects the beaches and sealife.  Another disadvantage is tourists often don't throw garbage away, trash cans in downtown Nassau are almost always overflowing because no one can keep up with the cleaning. Some tourists may view the economy as a disadvantage - things cost more here simply because everything has to get here via boat.   There is also some degree of cultural destruction with tourism.  Bahamians are very proud of their culture and with so many tourists enjoying junkanoo shows, the true meaning of it has been diluted.

hope that helps a bit - you can find more information online

  2. Everything is expensive... it's one of the least friendly group of islands and they have figured out how to shake the last penny out of your jeans... I think they would strap a meter on your chest and charge for the Bahamian air you breathed if they could

I avoid the Bahamas whenever I can.  They have managed to destroy their own business from the cruising fraternity because of their prices and restrictive policies

  3. i work in the bahamas so im not kidding when i say that the bahamas main goal is to suck out as much $ from you as possible!
