  1. Hydrogen - storage problems, flammability, expense, no distribution system, only a handful of cars run on it

Natural gas - storage problems, flammability, expense, no distribution system, only a handful of cars run on it

Ethanol - currently produced from food products although cellulosic would solve that, flex-fuel cars can't run on it, not as efficient as gasoline

Diesel - air contamination, hard to start in winter

Eletricity - battery disposal problems, limited range, long refueling time, extra weight due to batteries

  2. Ethanol, CNG, Hydrogen. ethanol has political enemies and so cannot be obtained just anywhere, CNG is a fossil fuel rarer than gasoline, and hydrogen has loads of problems: storage, infrastructure, and production.

  3. Push it, pull it, park it.

    Disadvantages are obvious.

  4. Solar energy - The technology has not been fully developed yet, it'll be years before it becomes mainstream

Hydrogen - This too, is under research. There are many problems and technicalities that need to be ironed out before it can be used widely.

CNG - Compressed natural gas vehicles require a greater amount of space for fuel storage than conventional gasoline power vehicles. Since it is a compressed gas, rather than a liquid like gasoline, CNG takes up more space for each GGE (Gallon of Gas Equivalent).
