  1. If you're talking about the "torrents" encountered in IT, it refers to the BitTorrent protocol used in peer-to-peer networking. Basically it boils down to downloading and sharing of all sorts of files (eg. Limewire)

Peer-to-peer networking is mostly, I'd say about 99%, used for the illegal distribution of software, music, movies, etc.

All peer-to-peer networking carries a very high risk of virus infection.

My advice: Stay away if at all possible...

  2. .torrent files are files that people share with other computers. It can be anything from video drivers, or streaming video. It can be possibly anything.

Torrents work like this. You have a seeder and a leecher. Seeders are people who completed to download the file, and they are allowing you to download the file to with a certain download speed.

Leechers or peers are people who are also downloading the files from the seeders. They usually make your download slower. So generally, its better if you have more seeders than leechers.

Then theyre trackers. I think they are hosts to seeds.

And when the file is complete, you get your file. Its just like downloading .RAR/ZIP files but with other people.

  3. I want to know that too!

  4. torrents are just a different way of downloading a file and to download them you will need a program

    you could use utorrent.

it is not difficult to use but be very care full because sometimes the torrents has virus.
