I know that in BC first digit is 9, and length is 10 digit... I wonder if other provinces have similar rules. Besides BC uses MOD11 check digit routine to validate card number. Do other provinces have similar standards?

  1. The first digit on my OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) card also starts with  9 and is followed by seven more digits and a W.

It's an older card and, until I'm forced to do so, I refuse to get (and pay for) the newer photo ID card.
