What are very old dances? Like REALLY old, from hopefully a thousand years ago. or just a few hundred years?

I'm writing a book, and it's set a very long time ago, no exact time period, but before anything like cars and microwaves and freezes and air conditioning was made. One character is a dancer(well, singer, but her magic does tap into dancing slightly) and I didn't want her doing a new dance, because that'd be just weird! Thanks for your help!!*-*

fyi, lol but cars and alla that stuff you mentioned was barely invented in the 20th century x] (less than a hundred of years ago like 1900s) a lot of the dances were already invented by then.

Belly dance probably is the oldest dance, it was a sacred dance, the roots of it go all the way back to prehistoric rituals, and that it's language  is signed and woven into the fabric  of the feminine experience of the archaic world.It has a neolithic root too(which bring u back the idea of origins). On this period, nore than 10,000 years ago, the cyclical language of bellydancing was probably first formed. As a ritual dance, it aimed at sactifying biological life and the cosmic rhythm of transformation  that our predecessors felt was anchored in the woman's belly . Egyptians women used bellydance as the dance of fertility which communicated the symbols of life, regeneration, fertility and birth.

In the koran, there are traces of the ancient symbolism of the goddesses sacred belly. Women of the ancient world danced to thank the goddesses of the ancient world  :)
