What are ways I can help others?

Question

Since I am so fortunate, I want to do something to help others, but what? It can involve money, but I'd really like to doo something rather than just giving donations. Thanks!

I sponsor The ShoeBox Project to help kids in my community.    You can view pics of the shoeboxes I decorate + the totes I make from old jeans at www.ShoeboxProject.org.  When the boxes & totes are filled, they are donated to children & teens (as well as to women who are victims of domestic abuse).  Recently I gave our local 4-H group some decorated shoeboxes & they are filling them with toiletries, school supplies, toys & games.  The filled shoeboxes will be donated to a children's foundation in our county.

The Shoebox Project is simple & inexpensive--fun, too!

I volunteer at a local hospital. I have been for 3 1/2 yrs. Check it out.

-help out at afterschool programs/ summer programs

-walk dogs

-babysit

How about preparing meals for those who need in home care.  You can purchase large amount of clothing from ebay (its so cheap there) and donate to those who need it.

You can start a hotline for those who just need someone to talk to  no matter what the subject is.
