  1. First of all, science has never proven that chi doesn't exist. That's just misinformation.

In fact, there have been scientific studies that recognize there is an unexplainable energy source in the human body. So if anything, the science supports chi.

Let me just say that I am a skeptic. For the longest time I thought the idea of chi was ridiculous. Like magic, or monsters, or the tooth fairy for that matter. It wasn't until I began studying Taoism, and Buddhism, and I actually EXPERIENCED chi that I became a believer. I can say that chi does exist, because I have felt it. I've experienced it first hand.

The best way to raise, or 'hone,' the best way to experience chi, is meditation.

The Chinese believe that the center of energy in your body is called the tan tien. It is the point in your body about three finger widths below the navel. The tan tien is important in the martial arts as well as it falls on your centerline, and is the spot of your body's center of gravity.

Research Taoist meditation techniques, and while meditating focus on the tan tien. Deep breathing is essential. Focus your breath, and breathe 'through' the tan tien. Focus on using your belly to help you breathe. Always staying mindful of the tan tien.

Anyways, I won't get into actual meditative techniques as those are readily available all over the internet. Just search around. I'd say stick to the spiritual meditative practices, or those that come from Tai Chi, or Chi Gung, or Yoga.

    Hope that helps.

(Note: Don't be discouraged by people like Alex. Some people are completely closed minded and misinformed. There are skeptics abound, but remember the idea of the chi flow has been around for thousands of years, and many people swear by it. As they do with acupuncture as well. Recently there was a statistic given in the AARP magazine about modern health care stating that only about 50%, yes 50%, of all medical procedures are backed with conclusive scientific evidence. Keep that in mind when dismissing things just because your personal bias makes you think it's silly.)

  2. First there is no direct translation of the Chinese word chi to any English word. Many Chinese scholars have gone on record to say that chi is energy, air, spirit, and the divine essence of god. But  we don't even know what chi is referring to.

Second we are 3 dimensional beings moving through a 4th dimension (time) and unknowingly effecting a debatable amount of other non-perceivable dimensions of existence. It could be that chi is a construct of one or more of these imperceptible dimensions. Frankly we just don't know.

If we don't know what we are talking about, and were it comes from, or it make up we can't knowingly effect it. It is plausible to effect another realm of dimension through mental process that has been proven (1) through observation. But tests on chi have always come back inconclusive, so it's good practice to turn to something you can affect and work on that. That way you won't look like these guys (2)

  3. chi is anything but fake....meditation is a good was to start...ask instructer fo more i like to meditate and breathe properly myself...

  4. chi is bs but it is a good way of breathing it just doesnt do anygood look up buddhist breathing it does the same thing

  5. Chi is fake.

Even the believers in chi admit that it can't be proven or detected by any known method, it can only be "experienced."

Apparently, the only way to "experience" chi is to first believe in it, and then spend hours and hours meditating and clearing your mind of conscious thought (what is sometimes refered to as contemplating your naval..).  Then, after you have convinced yourself that you should be feeling something, suddenly you do!  That's called the power of suggestion.

Chi practitioners claim honing their chi makes them stronger, faster, tougher, heal faster, etc., but there is no proof of this.  If there were, all professional athletes would do chi training, but they don't!  The true believers who feel their chi is making them stronger don't realize that it is actually the years they spend practicing martial arts that makes them stronger!

All demonstrations of chi are either fake (ie. cons) or simple physical skills anyone can learn to do.

The claims of self-proclaimed Chi masters have been disproven again and again (search chi master vs. mma on youtube for a famous example).

For over 10 years James Randi has offered a million dollar prize to anyone who could demonstrate a "supernatural" skill.  Chi falls into that category.  As far as I know, only one "chi master" accepted the challenge, and he failed the test.  Don't any other chi masters want a million bucks?  If their claims are true, then what are they waiting for???

A final note: acupuncture is also based on the theory of chi flow.  Supposedly by sticking needles into special chi hot spots, you can heal the body, etc.  But recent medical studies have confirmed that any benefit from acupuncture is exactly the same, whether you use the ancient Chinese Chi points or random points on the body!  Explain that, true believers!!!

You are all deluding yourselves!  Wake up!!!

  6. Chi is basically Energy. All Living things have got some energy, so they all have chi. but most people don't know how to control that chi. This does not mean u can make fireballs and stuff. Controlling chi is basically controlling ur own energy, and conserving it. To do so u simply have to meditate. When meditating do not let any thought or emotions enter your mind. Keep your breaths light. Do not deep breathe. Make sure u sit with your back at a 90 degree angle. Concentrate on the centre of mass of your body, which is 2 inches below your navel. it may take alot of time, but eventually u will be able to realize the chi.

  7. You don't; from what I read, you purify your spirit enough, and it just happens on its own.
