  1. Hi-

The ideal, of course would be eating less or no meat. But as that answer was a bit far off from the original question, I would like to remark that I would be interested to know of any ways the American public really could help to prevent the "inhumane" livestock raising procedures which do go on in our society.

I would feel alot less bad about eating a steak from an animal which had had a couple of good years, grazing in the sunshine with his friends, than from an animal which had been "raised to size" by being confined in a pen so small that "he" could not even turn around . Over-fed. Injected with who knows what...

    But that's just me...

I am looking forward to someone really answering this question.

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    ramborg

  2. They could start by decreasing their huge appetite for hamburgers and hotdogs over there!

  3. Good question for us all to think on.

Lobby congress to require that contracts that provide food to public schools, VA hospitals, and military personnel to give the priority to companies that provide meat from healthier and better treated animals.

Lobby corporations to force their suppliers to treat their livestock humanely.

Boycott companies who treat animals in this way.

Education around how unhealthy eating meat more than a couple times a week is for the environment, body, and society.

Watch, share, create documentaries to expose this tragedy.

    Blog to share more truths.

Support local coop chains, financially and by volunteering at local farms and stores.

  4. This is almost impossible... you will never get Americans to stop eating meat.  Government regulations are almost impossible to enforce. Better public awareness at a younger age will do best.

  5. In addition to eating less meat they can refuse to buy traditionally produced meat and instead purchase local, organic, free range, hormone free, grass fed meat.

You can check out what my fiance and I are doing to reduce our reliance or traditional meat products at our blog http://badhuman.wordpress.com

  6. if and when you know or hear of a company producing or selling any meat product or any product for that matter that is inhumane or unhumanitarian BOYCOTT the store and its affiliates money talks if we don't spend our hard earned cash at these locations and spend it at ethical businesses than the unethical businesses will get the point they will be out of business.Case in point the meat processor in California this weekend that has been fined and recalled all there meat products pressure your local news outlets to announce were this tainted meat was sold rumours that some cattle that were slaughtered had MAD COW DISEASE we as the consumer need to know

  7. If you are truly offended by the treatment of the animals you eat, then don't eat 'em.  Farmers won't raise what they can't sell.

Buy a gun and hunt your own meat.  (City people may be forced to live off of rat and pigeon protein)

Before you rush to make laws about what I eat, you should know that I think that soybeans and alfalfa sprouts are treated rather cruelly and that tofu should be federally regulated as a controlled substance.

  8. Quit eating inhumanely raised livestock.

  9. Not support the industry - meaning don't eat meat or buy from local free range farms.

  10. Who cares? Cows are raised to be turned into steaks and hamburgers. Chickens are raised to become nuggets, wings, and dinner. Pigs are raised to become bacon, sausage, and cutlets.  If you mean over feeding them to become fat then that is hardly a bad thing.

Animals are not human and thus can not be treated inhumane just the people that are killed by terrorist can be classified as inhumanely treated.

  11. sadly most Americans dont care... they dont know how bad it is.. (too busy pointing fingers at the Chinese who eat dogs)

encourage FREE RANGE EGGS ONLY (they are healthier too and have been linked to helping prevent cancer because unlike battery hen eggs... fresh free range eggs are alkhid.. cancer cannot live in an alkhid body.. battery hen eggs are acidic)

LESS MEAT.. obviously there is less suffering if you eat less meat.. not necessarily go vegetarian.. just have smaller portions or some meat less meals

eat WILD CAUGHT MEAT.. these animals live much better lives than factory raised meat...

spay and neuter their pets... - cats are carnivours.. if you make less cats you make fewer carnivours

do not have more than 1 kid... more people = more consumers..

  12. The main issue is to identify companies that are truly raising livestock in an inhumane manner. The vast majority of livestock is raised in very safe and humane conditions, but people never hear about any of the good situations. The main thing is that once a producer has been found to be raising livestock inhumanly, they need to change their practices quickly and maintain humane conditions. We also need to make sure when an organization attacks a producer, that the producer is really at fault and not just a victim of an activist organization looking for someone to attack.
