What are ways to go "green" in the classroom?

I really want to help the enviroment and I want to know if certain school supplies are better than others.

  1. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to use recycled paper.


  2. Cut down on paper use, use recycled paper when you can, use the overhead projector instead of handouts, put recycle bins in your classroom (we have paper and bottles/cans).

    And surprisingly enough, classroom lights use more energy turning on and off than actually running, so don't turn them off if you're just running out for a couple of minutes.

    Edit: Last time I visited UCSD, I bought 100% recycled school supplies (notebooks, rulers, pencils, pens, colored pencils, etc. ) I'm sure if you look for this stuff you'll find something, too.

  4. stop using wood pencils,well at least that is a start,and i think is a good idea to talk to your teacher about it ,to see what it can be done.
