  1. if you think it's bad now, just wait a couple years. you may be one of them.

  2. Um that was really really rude.

  3. great ?, I ponder this too,  how bout round up to a remote

desolate desert, and have them fend for themselves.

  4. help them help themselves.. you, yourself, must reflect and identify what you can offer..

  5. We have to improve our homeless programs using systems shown to work.  Existing shelters often don't have enough enough spots for everyone, or they don't accept people with certain types of problems, or with families or pets, or they are more dangerous/unpleasant than sleeping rough.

Recent thinking in the US has been around "Housing First," getting folks into long-term or at least transitional housing before trying to fix their other problems, because without housing, it's hard to support other needs.

There are some homeless bloggers who really explain the difficulties well; I highly recommend reading them.  With rare exceptions, people don't want to be living outdoors on your street any more than you want them there, but they're really having a hard time helping themselves.

  6. The part when you said, that they make the streets look filthy was rude really rude. Maybe 1 day you will be 1 of them on the streets making our streets "look filthy". Do you know that their whole life being homeless is more bigger problem for themselves, than you think about the streets that are look filthy. If they got choice they wouldn't be on streets, all dirty, miserable, smelly, humiliated and drunk (some of them are not drinks by the way).

I served dinner for homeless and talked to them and they r not choosing to be on streets. Something happen to their lives to them go on streets.

In my opinion, we should give homeless people used clothes (better conditions that they r right now), give meals and be kind for them.

  7. How close are any of us to being homeless? While others may find this question rude I find it interesting. Homelessness is a problem. Some shelters probably aren't much better than the horror stories about nursing homes. There are way more homeless people than workers to care for them. So how many get turned away, especially the repeat visitors? My suggestions: charity care, psych evaluations to see if they have mental illness that might be keeping them from working (and medication if necessary), interests/career inventory, job training. Once they can start living "normal" lives they can contribute to society. It's like that saying "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime."

  8. We have to stop the war in Iraq, remove the Republicans from office and start taking care of Americans instead of the president's oil profits.

Many of us are one paycheck or one illness from being on the street ourselves.
