Wii points are points that you can put on your Wii console. With Wii points you can purchase things in the Wii store on your console if you have wireless internet. Wii points can be purchased as pre paid cards. They may also do other things.

Wii Points are virtual points you can purchase in order to buy games for the Virtual Console via the Wii Shop Channel.  You can buy Wii Points at any video game store.  Two thousand Wii Points is $20.  After your purchase the give you a code you use to redeem the Wii Points on the Virtual Console.  The Virtual Console features classic Nintendo games from N64, Super Nintendo, etc.  Virtual Console games can vary from 300 - 1000 points.

I believe Wii points are what you can use to download old Nintendo games onto your Wii. You can buy a certain amount of them and then download old games like Castlevania and Yoshi onto your Wii.
