  1. I am an inventor in energy/environment products. (see www.heatstick.com) -- I live a very small footprint lifestyle and work out of a "recycled" facility. I make things with hand tools, low energy equipment, and "green" finishes. We recycle as much of our packaging equipment as we can. We only ship once or twice a week (a trip to town) instead of every day. We believe in "doing more with less."

Most important -- we got rid of the TV 20 years ago.

    warm wishes

  2. i inplug things that aren't in use, i burn candles, and i walk as much as i can instead of driving.

  3. i am using i think it is called grey water... i have my tub and washing machine hooked up to a hose which is hooked up to other hoses which water  a few grape vines, some trees and other plants. i don't have a special tank but that would be the plan for the winter because the hoses do freeze up. therefore no need to waste as much water. and it is environmentally safe.

  4. I like what Mike is doing with his home, I have also become addicted to alternative energy.  I would suggest that he also look into geo-thermal heating and cooling.  His solar panels might easily power the system, and - the water to his solar water heater could be preheated by the geo-thermal, or vice versa.  Also, this free warm water could run under subradient flooring providing even more heat...  Ahhh!!! it is an addiction

  5. Do I have a wonder invitation for you to be your own boss and set-up your own company with products that are eco-friendly and organic safe and it's affordable for the poor the meduim the rich and the filthy rice, all can efford it  and easy to sell. Just visit my web site at www.shaklee.net/earthfriendly01  and see the beauty of these products it's all organic safe and great on the environment and there or millions of businesses using it to advertise that thier company have went totally green. Alot of business and home and cleaning business love the way it advertise. "GONE TOTALLY GREEN" no harash chemical are used in this product , that could harm you, your family and children and  your asthma, copd., and any kind of breathing problems that a person might have could be irritated by all the harsh chemicals that are being used in your house today and on the jobs where we work even by house maids or maid services.

Nursing homes or one of the worst place to live because of all the chemicals that have to be use to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. But at the same time alot of our lod adult or being poison by the fumes that  the cleaning chemicals leave behind.

  6. I have done queit a bit. I use solar-PV/water/air panels for electricity heat and air. I started putting power bars at every outlet in use, and turning off power when items are not in use. I also replaced most of the bulbs I could with CFLs and 12v dc systems. I also Harvest and distill my own water using a rain water system. I am still on the grid, but only for items that are the higher voltage devices, dryer, refrig., and things to that nature. Hang clothes out on nice days, and use all biodegrable materials when possible. Recycle kitchen waste. Leftover veggies, and such go to my free range chickens and ducks, the rest goes to the appropriate recycle bins.

  7. I am trying to get Government to set me up in recycling Electronic Equipment. They are starting up this spring so I wanted to have a place set up in my small rural community. It is a very small town in Annapolis County N.S. (Annapolis Royal) I live just outside town in Lequille. I am an electronic technician so I thought it would be nice to give a little back to this over polluted world through recycling Electronics. In a way I already recycle every time I fix an old system that would most times go into a landfill. I would still do it but I cannot get Government Backing even though I was one of the first to check it out. I guess they feel that you need a lot of money to be able to do recycling electronic equipment. They wanted me to have a building 25 * 40 and a Fork lift, and easy access by trailer Truck. Too bad they didn't give out grants to do this because I would do it any way and may try without money. What is your opinion? Do you think Government should have sponsored me to do this job?  I am a person with disabilities and would enjoy the last few years of my life doing something special for environment.

  8. We are recycling everything possible, using a compost bin, trying to cut or energy use (lights off, appliances  unplugged, power save on stuff), carpooling, not idling the car, walking kids to school, have changed the types of cleaners we use, using polycarb (but have ordered stainless steel) water bottles, replaced some of our windows, rechargeable batteries, reusable shopping bags.  Also, in the next five years we would like to put in a tankless water heater, and get more efficient appliances and are hoping for a good hybrid suv.  But the most important thing is that we are teaching our children!

  9. I installed a Skystream 3.7 wind turbine to make at least 500 kWH per month.  I'm using CFL's throughout my all-electric house.   I try to conserve electricity as much as possible. Also , I drive an extremely fuel efficient car (Toyota Yaris).

Eventually, I'll add a solar hot water heater and solar electric panels as funds allow.  Alt energy has become a hobby for me (almost an addiction!)

  10. I am self suffient in food supply  by growing my own vegies and hunting my own food . This has reduced the need for food shopping which has high tax on the environment via transport , packaging , wastage and disposal . This , with recylcing my own waste made into fertilser for the garden will reduce landfill and reduce the use of excessive fertiser which leach into our river system causing high level of pollution .
