What are you charged for when giving birth at a hospital?

Do they charge you the regular emergency fee, do they charge you at all? I would of thought something cheap or nothing at all, since it "seems" like many lower class people have a lot of children, they couldn't possibly afford it every time!

  3. Im geussing its depends on your insurance, Ring them and ask them what you are covered for. If you havent any, Get some.

    Im not 100% though, Im from the UK.

  5. It depends on your insurance company.  I have a PPO and I had a baby 8 weeks ago.  I owed nothing to the hospital, but I did have a bill from my OB and the anesthesiologist. In total, I owed just under $500.  However, I have friends who have HMO's and did not pay a penny.

  7. thank god for the nhs in britain noone worries about the cost of having a baby our medical care is free
