  1. Turn off all appliances and such that are not in use.. That goes for the microwave that just sits and displays the time.  Every little bit helps.  And I drive windows down unless I have passengers that require the aircon.

  2. I quit driving two years ago.  I either walk or ride my bike everywhere...including the 6 miles each way to work.  Not only do I feel better, I sleep better due to the immense amount of exercize and have removed another car from the road that would normally just cause the cloud of smog among the town to enlarge.

I am a busy guy.  I work 50 hours a week and have been able to manage such a lifestyle change.  You can do it too...if you want to.

  3. Well these are things I have always done but here they are....

~Unplug anything that is not on (yes even the TV)

~Keep my house closed up in the day so I don't have to turn on my AC to often

    ~Do laundry on weekend mornings

~Keep the lights off in the daytime (I actually made my son give me $5 because he left his light on when we went to the store. He hasn't done it since)

    ~I carpool

    ~I recycle everything

  4. STAY HOME

  5. nothing... it's all a scam by the government to keep us all under their control

We have more than enough oil, but it's too hard to refine now that we dismantled all of our refineries... all due to the pollution we created, but now other countries are building 2 per week.... we all live in the same world, and all the pollution goes up to the same atmosphere...

I stopped paying my house payment since I can't afford to live and pay for my home....

I seen on Glen Beck where it now cost 400 dollars a month more than last year just to live the same life style....

Ain't that a kick in the teeth!

Save your money when you can.... you'll be needing it..

  6. I have done some things that really work:

    1. Use a multi-plug for TV, satellite TV and video-games, Only turn it on when you are going to use it.

    2. Use a multi-plug for computer, monitor, modem, etc. Turn it on when you need it.

    3. The same for kitchen appliances.

    4. Change light bulbs for Leds or energy saving bulbs.

    5. Use dimmers: sometimes you don´t need  a sunny day in your room, just little light.

    6. Use motion sensors for places you are staying little time, like bathroom. You move and the light is on. When you leave the room, the light turns off. You can use sensors in halls, entrance area, garage, etc.

    7. Use -if it is possible- solar panels for electricity or warming water.

    8. Be conscious.

  7. (from a different part of world - where reality is different)

In a country where electric supply is less than the minimum need, difficult to think about wasting. We don't have power to operate the appliances 24 hrs a day. Even though using the costlier energy star appliances. Can't think about using an air conditioners ... during summer - going through cycles of wet/sweat and follow up cough - with very informal and light clothings, even in my office.

The nation is going for more trees, which will reduce the heat and need for air coolers hopefully.

Still no practical steps to reduce the use of natural gas which runs our stoves. Should be moving towards efficient burners which do not waste heat. Just trying to increase intake of uncooked food and taking care that food is not over cooked (besides consuming extra gas, causing health problem as well).

In rural side, they don't even use gas. They burn the dried branches/leaves, which drop from trees, for cooking. They even burn waste papers for this purpose.

  8. leave the lighs off for th most part. open widows rather than turn the ac on.
