  1. I participate and cheer for the questions/topics like these!

  2. 1. Plant trees

    2. Use jute or paper bags instead of plastic bags

    3. Switch off electric appliances when not in use, to save energy

    4. Reduce the use of aerosols, that contribute to air pollution

    5. Follow environment-friendly methods of waste disposal rather than dumping all the wastes in the open, or into sources of water, or burning them in the open.

  3. use my own reusable grocery bags, use vinegar to clean my house (works great!!), use organic make up and body care, i am a vegetarian, we use all cfl's, have all new energy star appliances and tv.  I have bamboo sheets, I make my own green dish detergent, we work from home so we don't drive too much, we're buying a reel mower soon! we have plants all over our house, i recycle everything! I buy all organic food.  I try to buy seasonal, we keep our thermostat programmed low, i buy non toxic nail polish!

  4. Currently -

    - Recycle everything that is possible.

    - I have kind of declared war on plastic bags.  I take my own bags to the store, if I forget the bags, then I have to just find a way to carry it out.  I do not put my produce in separate bags.  I have finally found trash bags that are made from recycled plastic, but it still bothers me that I have to use a plastic bag to throw out garbage.

    - Consider the packaging for everything that I buy.

    - I am attempting to grow my own vegetables.

    - Do my best to avoid eating meat.  I am almost a vegetarian - well, getting there quickly.  I am doing this with my family (husband and four year old, so it can be a bit of a challenge - not the husband, but the four year old.)

    - Drink water from the tap.

    - Any appliance or electronic device that is purchased must be Energy Star.

    - I am in the process of trying to figure out a realistic and safe way to ride a bicycle to do basic daily things, and use the car as little as possible.  I do not live in the very best location for pedestrians.  The next time that I move, this will be a major factor.

    - I plan to start composting as soon as possible.

    - All cleaners have to be environmentally friendly.

    - Almost every bulb in our house is compact florescent.  We have lived in our current house a few months, and when ever an old bulb goes out it is replaced with a compact florescent.  I am thinking of trying to go with LED for the final few.

    - Really just trying to think about every action's impact on a daily basis.

  6. Changed out our incadescent bulbs for the CF type that look like ice cream cones. This will save you $$$ in the long run. I try to recycle plastic products but in our area it's not an easy task. Glass is a real pain to recycle because of it's weight and safety issues due to breakage, plus not many recycling stations will accept glass. I also try to avoid using those small bottles of water and use a portable water cooler along with a re-useable insulated mug to drink with. Not much but it's a start.

  7. I will just list down my efforts, as I

    1. Use less water - just as much as necessary.

    2. Use as less electricity and other non-renewable energy source as possible

    3. Do not use AC until it is un-bearable (I have to use it sometimes as I stay in a desert area)

    4. Use less of plastic or only good quality plastic

  8. i do not throw any plastic materials etc insteadof i thrown in waste box

  9. I chew out my girlfriend when she leaves the lights on, keeps the refridgerator door open, and lets the water run without using it.

Okay, so that doesn't help out a lot.  I'm also hoping this weather will warm up because I want to start biking to work.  It's good exercise and cheaper.  We recycle in our household, and try to atleast reuse items before they're thrown away.  For example, our old shirts are used as bedding for hamsters.  Same with paper towel rolls being used for toys for them and egg shell containers being used as homes.  They usually break these containers down even smaller, which helps cutdown on landfill space.

Oh, and I try to walk to the store for anything small that I can carry.

  10. I have (3) 30 gallon recycle bins, and 4 small crate recycle bins that are completely full every week. My trash can MAYBE has 1 half a bag of trash.

I take home all the paper and cardboard/plastic lunch stuffs from work and recycle them every few weeks in the copy paper boxes I save to do this in

Take my own bags to the store

I don't put my tomatos or brocolli or anything else in the produce bags

I let my grass grow kinda high before cutting

I barely EVER turn on the A/C in my house - we have fans for that!

I keep the heat set at 65 and tell people to get a sweater

I walk as many places as I can

I preach my recycling issues to everyone I meet

I make the neighborhood kids clean up along the sidewalks and the storm drains

I replaced all the light bulbs in the house with CFC bulbs

I replaced toilets with Low FLow toilets

I limit showers in our house to 7 minutes...and start knocking on the door after 6 minutes to let them know times almost up

I bought new energy effecient appliances and finally I installed a clothes line

  11. Plant trees.

  12. ya mom

  13. I recycle all paper, plastic and metal. I prefer vegetables over meat, and I prefer locally grown products. I drink water from the tap instead of buying bottled water. I use reusable, biodegradable shopping bags instead of taking plastic bags from the grocery. I walk whenever possible. I garden. I reuse products very often, and donate anything that I don't need any more but can still be useful to someone else. I support many environmental causes with donations.
