  2. I am employed as an environmental manager. To that end I can affect change on several levels including reduction of waste from a landfill, composting, reuse, end of life programs for obsolete equipment, resource consumption tracking and reduction.

I employ the same attitudes at home.

My advice; get a BS degree in environmental Engineering and work on a grander scale.

  3. I use reuseable canvas bags for my shopping instead of getting plastic bags at the store.

When I am done using something that can be reused, I either sell it or give it away (clothes, bedsheets, knick knacks, children's toys, etc.)

I'm trying to find and use "green" cleaning supplies instead of things that are harmful to the environment.

I'm planning to dry my clothes on a clothes line once the weather is better instead of using my clothes dryer.

  4. well, gr8 dat your so concerned about the environment rarely do people think protecting it. first of all, raise your voice because we need laws that will steer our nation towards the environment, chose an efficient vehicle and get it checked regularly for pollution, use public transport as much as possible and use energy efficient appliances and replace your light bulbs by Compact Florescent Lamps.

  5. I have changed all the light bulbs in my home to CFL's. I also turn the Burnt CFL's in to a local shop that collects them. CFL's have a small amount of Mercury in them and need to be disposed of properly. I also use power strips for my appliances. Things like TV's, Microwaves, and Computers, use power even when there not on. I plug  these into a power strip and turn the power strip off when I leave for work or when I go to bed.  I only plug the microwave in when I use it and unplug it when I'm done. I already have enough clocks in the house. I recycle everything that is recyclable and I try to only buy products that have the least amount of packaging. I'm also a Independent Associate for a solar panel company. http://www.maketheswitchtosolar.com

This Solar Panel company makes Going Solar Simple. There going to Install solar panels on American homeowners roofs and rent them the system for a flat rental rate thats locked in for 25 years. Theres no installation cost, No system purchase, No permit hassles, No maintenance fees and No rate Increases.

  8. I am an Environmental Geologist.  My job involves assessing, investigating, and remediating soil and groundwater pollution.  Get a science degree and dig in.

  9. .  I have 5 acres in the Pacific NW woods. I don’t have a well, I collect rain and snow run off from all the buildings and store it in 1000 gallon tanks and an above ground pool for use during the summer, even supporting a small garden.  All lights (accept soalr yard lights) off all night after bed time, only electric appliances are high efficiency fridge, freezer, TV, and computer.  Monthly elec bill runs around $40. Heat with wood in a high efficiency wood stove (no ash, never have to clean the chimney, never smokes).  Use 100 gallons propane a year for water heating and cooking.  I have 2  70 mpg motorcycles and a 35 mpg Toyota pickup.  I recycle all cans, bottles, and paper products,  I only spend about $40 a month for gasoline (even at $3.50 a gal).  If everyone lived like me Exxon (don’t forget the boycott) and all the other energy hemorrhoids would have died out years ago….  The entire “energy crisis” is in fact a contrived monopoly to suck more revenue from the public.

  10. RECYCLE... Recycle whatever you can and get family & friends to do the same. The more you recyle the less dependent we become from OPEC & Bush.  It also creates much needed jobs.

  11. I work for a website, http://www.greencollareconomy.com that promotes profitable sustainability for businesses that want to lessen their carbon footprint and cut energy costs.
