  1. I feed my daughter mainly formula. I started giving her rice cereal about a month ago, I only fed it to her when she seemed extra hungry until her pediatrician told me that I should feed it to her every day. Last week I started introducing veggies, and fruits. She loves it!  Alot of people are against giving anything but formula for the first 6 months. But I think mommies know best what the baby wants. :-)

I would feed him some rice cereal mixed with formula at first. So that he can learn to eat from a spoon. After he gets that down start giving fruits and veggies.  You are supposed to introduce new foods 3 days apart so that you can check for allergies. I feed my daughter either fruits and cereal or veggies at dinner time every day.

The doc said to feed her every day at the same time, and then gradually start feeding her more often until your feeding her 3 times a day.

  2. I heard 6 months is when you start veggies fruits etc

  3. my son has rice cereal and oatmeal in addition to breastmilk (he has the cereal at night before bed) our ped. said that we could start yellow veggies this month (although we havent yet) as well as fruits like bananas and pears...he also has a small amount of watered down apple juice every few days!

  4. My fiancee and i started feeding our daughter 2 tablespoons of rice cereal mixed with 3 oz of form and half a jar of applesauce or bananas. Our daughter looooves to eat and she handles it very very well. she loves the bananas! try giving him a spoonful of bananas or applesauce and see if he likes it..then u can start giving him a little less than half a jar (small jar) of the fruit and the rest of his formula. Oh yea..if this helps we give our daughter a 8 oz bottle the first time she wakes up in the morning usually 8 am...the 2nd time she wakes up, usually 10 am we give her rice cereal and her bottle...then lunchtime usually 1ish we give her the fruit and formula...

  5. I started feeding my son cereal at 5 months.  His pediatrician recommended waiting til then.  We started on rice cereal mixed with formula but the rice was too constipating for him.  Switched to barley and he's doing great with it.  To make it taste better and to help him absorb the iron in the cereal I now mix it with baby apple juice and heat it up a little.  Also, formula about every 4 hours.

You're supposed to start fruits and veggies @ 6 months.  One new one every few days so that you can watch for allergies (diarrhea, rash, vomiting).   Papers from our pediatrician say to give your baby 2 to 3 tablespoons of both fruit and veggies twice a day.

    Hope this helps!

  6. At 5 months my daughter was just having breastmilk or formula.

Solids is recommended to start at 6 months of age.  See http://www.ebabycentre.com/bdsolids.htm

  7. My son is 4.5 month and he eats formula 5 times a day. Also he drinks a waterdowned white grape juice and 2-3 teaspoon veggies twice a day. But he already doubled his birth weight and drinks more than 30 oz of formula a day.

  8. At five months my son was drinking breastmilk and formula..... and sometimes I would give him a little rice cereal or oatmeal.
