I've given up out to eat, movies, also instead of cearl with milk for breakfeast I have toast, I spend about a 1/4 know of what I used to at walmart, hey at least I'll loose some weight, lol:) I'm sure there is some out there this isn't affecting but way more it is. And I find it funny Busch thinks we are gonna go out and buy new clothes and go out to dinner with the money he's sending, ya right. I my self am putting it ALL on a credit card, and I know lots more are doing the same or paying other bills with it.

  1. I do not have to give up anything.  I have learned the hard way many years ago to always be prepared for rising costs and to be frugal with my money.  It helps that I bought a great commuter car over seven years ago so that I do not have a car payment.  I also have only one credit card that I use only for real emergencies which I plan to have paid off by the end of May.

I do have student loans that hurt but I will not allow them to accrue interest by putting them in hardship mode.

  2. I've done more combining trips than giving up something. I rarely go out for lunch b/c there's only one restaurant within a 2 miles of where I work.

The price of gas hasn't been the only big problem. The price of food in general has been rising moreso than I ever would have expected.  In our area, milk went from $1.99 to $3.99, and eggs went from 90 cents to $1.89, all in a very short time.

  3. I rarely meet my friends out anymore.  I used to meet for lunch or a drink at the bar.  We'd meet up for dinner.  I work and go home mostly.  I have no life outside of work now. :(  I don't shop.  I haven't bought clothes or shoes in forever.  I've even cut out vacations.  I just collect the money and keep working because I don't want to loose money from work.

It's not just gas prices.  Groceries have gone up, as well.  I think it's going to continue to get worse until we have a different president in office.  Particularly, a Democrat ( hopefully, Obama!).

  4. I'm NOT going to the theatre with my friends on  the weekend anymore. I don't go out for drinks with my boss after work. I invite my friends over for pasta and a rental movie instead of going out for pizza. I did go out and buy a big bulk tub of oatmeal to eat for breakfasts (since it prolly won't go bad on me) And since i only live bout 3 miles from the nearest shopping center, I walk more. Drive to work and school. And the gas station. And to mom and dad's. :)

  5. I switched jobs--I now work from home and take the bus almost everywhere it goes.  I save up car trips so I only need to drive 1 or two days a week.  I now use less than half the gas I used to.

I do find myself spending more time at home.  Also, my friends and I tend to get together more for walks and hikes instead of drinks and dinner.  I've also cut out the wine I used to have with dinner every night...just a glass every other night.

I spend less money now that I did when gas prices were below two dollars.  I'm actually much happier, fitter, and a few pounds lighter. :-)

  6. Everything including groceries. We have cut back on what we eat and I even bought bulk in ramen noodles. on top of that we've been using less electricity, cut off our cable (we got an antenna/rabbit ears).  plus we shop at the dollar stores more and rarely leave our place.

I knew it was coming (the spike in gas prices) so I traded in my truck for a small car.

  7. i don't leave the house as much, and shop only at costco

  8. I use to drive over to the supermarket whenever I felt like it even if i was only buying one thing. Now, I have to write everything down on lists and try to shop only once a week.

  9. Driving.

  10. sweetheart you need to learn the value of a coupon and bargain shopping like i did in my bk.  gas has caused me to stop taking the long way everywhere and not go places or i will walk now too.

  11. Well, I have certainly had to give up eating at the Olive Garden & all of those other yummy restaurants that are farther down the road. Driving around for the sheer pleasure of it is also off of my to-do list. Truthfully, I can barely afford to go to those places that are imperative to my daily life.

  12. well because i live thirty minutes away from town, i never really did anything but hang out with my friends

but, soon me and my brother are going to get my license so i am going to party
