What are you required to know how to do when you tryout for cheerleading?

I'm starting the first day of high school tomorrow, but I'm thinking about trying out for cheerleading, so I know the simple moves of cheerleading, like a high kick, etc. But I have no idea how to do cartwheels, or anything that involves me leaving the ground, and I know in cheerleading you need to know how to do that. So if I tryout would they let me in, but would they teach me how to do cartwheels, and other difficult things like that? I know probably not, but I want tp join something! :(

  1. Find out who the coach is and ask him/her what's required. Most schools try outs don't start until spring so you have plenty of time to learn how to tumble if that is a requirement. Make sure you have a positive personality, good sharp clean voice, tight motions, get your jumps to the best of you ablilties & try not to get frustrated if you can't get things faster then other girls. If you know anyone on the sqaud talk to them & see what thier looking for.

  2. Well it all depends on you're school. Talk to the coach at you're school and see what is required. See when the tryouts are. Meanwhile stretch everyday and look up cheerleading moves,  jumps, and stunts online just to learn terms.

  3. It depends say if u do great at stunting and great at the cheer and great and the dance and great at jumps. Then u do  a ok kartwheel the chances are prob 65%.

  4. You need to ask the coach. If tumbling is required you may need to take classes at a gym this year and try out next year.  In the meantime you can work on daily drills that will help you lean your tumbling faster: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/tumbl...

    Good luck!

  5. it depends..its different for every school and every team.

you probably wont make varsity not knowing a cartwheel, but check out jv and freshman squads if you have those. at our school back handsprings are required for jv, as well as basic stunting, tight motions for cheering and basic jumps. talk to the coach...i honestly cant help you because every school and squad is different! good luck!! =]
