What are you supposed to do first: get a SAG card or sign with an enfranchised agent?

How could you get a SAG card first? Where would you look for roles without an agent?

Usually you need an agent first. Getting a SAG card takes time. You need roles that give you SAG eligibility first. So that means agent first.

you will need an agent to get any interviews. its kind of a catch 22 to get into sag you can't be in sag until you get a job and you can't  get a job till your in sag. when you get your first job you need to tell them you just started and they will do what is called  grandfathering you into sag.once your in sag your rates depend on how much you work. no one works all the time so if you don't work for a long period there will be a set amount to keep your membership up.
