  1. haha i saw this on mythbusters, that show is hilarious. :)

play dead, stay still and dont thrash about. sharks go for the screaming jumping people, but virtually ignore the dead still quiet ones. :)

  2. You should watch more Shark Week on the Discovery Channel :) Lol.

Play dead, don't panic (sharks can smell fear and heart beats) a good punch in the eye will also be good, big magnets also irritate sharks, but what are the chances of you carrying a magnet around in the ocean with sharks swimming underneath you?

  3. simple calm, stay frozen, don't show or feel fear (shark smell fear) and that it, but if you have a wound just act like it not even there but if the shark approach you just punch gentle on the nose, then it will go away (learn from mythbusters)

  4. In case the worst happens and you are attacked by a shark, the rule says "Do whatever it takes to get away!" Some people have successfully chosen to be aggressive, others passive.

If you are stuck underwater with an aggressive shark you should never face away from it and some say that screaming has, on occasion, scared a shark off. It's worth a try - you don't have much to lose if you find yourself in a situation such as this!

If you have a weapon like a knife or a stick and have no alternative aim for the nose - this is the shark's most sensitive spot and a severe strike here can be effective in disorientating the shark and hopefully scaring it off.

  5. Supposedly a shark can sense if someone is scared.  I try not to put myself in the position to be that close to a shark.  I would say try to stay calm and swim away as quickly as you can, without too much movement or splashing

  6. most of the answers are correct. except the playing dead part. sharks are curios like any other animal. but they only have the ability to bite to investigate things, their mouths are their hands. and since sharks are stealth hunters mostly, if you see them coming, they probably aren't hunting, so playing dead when it is trying to figure out what you are is going t get you bit. just stay calm and slowly make your way out of the water, if it swims to close push at its nose, don't punch it, just push it. just keep in mind that unless its a bull or tiger, shark don't eat people, we just have the misfortune of looking like seals.
