  1. They do not attack people. But if you think one is a threat throw a rock, pick up a stick and hold your jacket wide or arms high to make you look bigger. Climb something. Get up on something. Worse case kick them in the head or if you have something like a rock bash them in the head when they attempt to bite you.

    I know coyotes are harmless because I have lived with them all my life. They only weigh about 35 pounds. Wolves are suppose to be harmless. They are big though.

  3. The only time a wolf or coyote would attack a human is if it was rabid. Both these animals are shy and wary of humans, and there is no record of them attacking people. If confronted by any predatory animal, the most important thing is not to run - running makes you seem like prey, and triggers the hunting instinct. You should stand your ground, and raise your arms and shout to make yourself appear larger and more threatening. This will intimidate most predators. Of course, if the animal is rabid it is quite likely to attack you anyway. In that case, your best bet is to climb a tree or, preferably, get indoors or into a vehicle.
