i have a new neighbor, she's nice and everything- but when I'm talking to her she'll say her piece, and then when its time for me to respond i start talking and she turns around and (while I'm talking) starts talking to my children. they are 1 and 2 and usually standing at the door looking at us, not screaming or anything

so, i usually just kind of let my sentence trail off- ya know since she's neither looking at me nor listening to me at that point. its really obnoxious. do i say "hey! I'm over here!" or what. if it just happened once or twice, that would be one thing- but this is EVERY conversation- how can she not realize shes being weird and rude?

  1. The first answer you got was a good one, but if that doesn't work, just stop having conversations with her, only say hello and go about your business.

  2. I'm sure she does not realize what she is doing and is only looking at your kids because they are cute…

Just finish your sentence and stop talking,

or stop in the middle of the sentence –

and don’t continue until she looks back at you…

she'll get the hang of it ;)

  3. maybe shes' not used to listening in turn to someone else. She may not even know she's doing it, but just let her know. If she does it after that, she's just being rude.
