What are you supposed to say after someone compliments you on your school bag?

If someone compliments me on my school bag, what do I say?

Should I just say "Thanks"? Or do I compliment them back?

Because lately, I've been feeling kinda conceited by just saying

"Thanks."

depends on my mood sometimes i comment or just say thanks or do both if i like something on them i wouldnt lie so i will do both

Another way is to say, "Oh, you're so sweet!"  That thanks them and compliements them at the same time.

Works really good on guys, too.  But it's considered acknowledgement of a flirt.

If they're wearing something that you like, compliment them back, but don't lie about it.

The worst thing to do is to go quite which is awkward, I suggest just saying thank you and compliment them back.

Say, "Oh, thanks!". Only compliment back if you really mean it, otherwise it's just mean. If you feel like the person's saying that to start a conversation just tell them thank you and talk about something else. You don't have to compliment back.

Say thank you, but if you honestly like their bags, then say a compliment on theirs. or if you honestly dont like it back, then i would just say thank you :)

Nothing wrong with just saying Thanks or Thank you.

Doesn't mean you have to turn around and give them a compliment.

But if you happen to notice something they're wearing, that you really like, compliment them on it.  Giving a compliment isn't necessarily someone fishing for a compliment from you.  Saying Thanks or Thank you shows you have manners and aren't ignoring the fact that they've paid you a compliment.  Not saying anything or saying something like 'I know!', would make you come off looking conceited.

I know it sounds stupid, but when people hear it, it sounds more sincere anyways.. like you really appreciate it

you should not compliment something when you don't like it....

better to say nothing...

if you do like their bag,a "that's nice" would be sufficient...
