  1. a popular cheer is when the other team shanks the ball your team says ...............................

to the window to the wall we saw you shank that ball !!!!! or shank you very much

  2. first of all, it is best to call in three's...mine mine mine, go go go etc

if the ball is coming to you, say "mine mine mine" or "I GOT IT!"

if the ball is coming to somebody next to you, say "GO GO GO" or "YOU GO" or their name.  example: "AMY AMY AMY"

after somebody passes, yell "SET SET SET"

if you are the setter, say mine mine mine, i got it i got it i got it etc.

the hitter should yell for a ball to, such as "MIDDLE MIDDLE MIDDLE" "OUTSIDE!" or a number (if you have decided that as a team) "2 2 2" or something.

when the ball is about to get hit on the other side, call where it is "LEFT LEFT LEFT" or "MIDDLE HIT!"

if the ball is being served, you can say "balls up" and yell "IN IN IN" or "OUT OUT OUT!"  you can also yell "DEEP!!!!" or "SHORT SHORT SHORT"

if it is a top spin serve, hit or a hard ball to get, you could say "DOWN DOWN" or "DIG DIG!"

the main reason for calling the ball is so you don't have 3 people trying to get the same ball, which could happen if you DON'T call the ball.  it makes your team aware of what is happening if you are talking to them.

    i hoped this helped!!!

  3. If your about to pass the ball you're gonna want to call "mine" or "got it" or something like that. And if your blocking with someone else say "ready ready ready" when the balls about to be spilked so that they are paying attention. Also if ur a setter and the other team just served and the ball is coming towards u (u can't hit it cuz ur the setter) call "help" or "help setter" there are also alot more things u can say to help u keep in the game!

  4. This is a huge topic...

I would agree with vball615 for most of his calls. I would go with three's when calling "GO GO GO" (which means I am not going), and when it needs more attention (or when I am going crazy :-). I could also call "U GO, U GO" but rarely called names.

For most other scenarios I call it once if it is enough. I know I might have earned enough respect from others :) so that once I call it, I mean it, and my teammate would hear it and go with it.

When I am in Back Row:

When I am ready to take a pass or cover a deep ball, I would only call "I go" once unless I see another player approaching the ball at the same time. Other players would also call "Got it", "mine", "me", or even "I am here", all called once.

I call "short" when I ask front row players to take the pass, I call "tip" (or TIP TIP TIP) when the opponent is tipping. I call "OUT" when the opponent sent the ball over and kind of going out of bound.

I would never call DEEP as DEEP is me (I play middle back most of the time). If for any reason another player is playing middle back but he accidentally stayed too close to the 10-yd line, I will try to help him instead of yelling DEEP, as nobody would be quicker than me covering the baseline.

We call "ceiling" or "off the net" when a pass is going crazy. We also call "GO GO GO" when the other team kept the ball in play while some other people could be questioning whether it has been hit four times. Some people call "save is on the way" when a teammate is surely getting to a save, so that all others can be ready for the next move.

    Front row:

I would never call SET when I am the setter, as it is all default, like when I am diving for a loose ball. I would pay more effort in concentrating on the ball instead of yelling out. I would call HELP HELP when I am a setter but the pass is out of reach.

When blocking, I call touch when I contacted the ball, no matter whether the ball go back or into my court. I won't call anything had I not touched the ball. I call "no touch" when the opponent expects me to give them another 3-hit (if I really did not touch).

When I am the middle hitter I call nothing when going up for a 1 (the setter knows I would always be there), but would call 2,2,2 when I wasn't able to go up quick. I call 4-ball or 5-ball sometimes when I got switched to outside but the setter kept thinking I wanted a 3-shooter (otherwise I will take whatever the setter presented to me). I call "middle, middle" when I realize the opponent switched their best hitter to hit middle, and I call "double" asking for help when blocking, which sometimes ended up as a triple block.

I would call "Ace", "Nice set", "Great hit", "Wonderful save", "Good swing", and all those combinations when my team had a good rally, and will give a five to anyone who is upset for a bad play murmuring "don't worry about it".

You can be more creative when playing, but sometimes it is better not to say anything, such as when your setter is in the position ready to set, you don't have to call SET SET. I got annoyed by a player who was constantly yelling "C'mon, C'mon", as if nobody else were paying any effort...

  5. when a ball is being served you can yell wheather the ball is IN or OUT, DEEP or SHORT, and OVER. if you can get the ball yell MINE or GOT IT. if you're a setter you yell to the passer HERE so they know where to pass it. you can also yell YOU GOT IT or YOURS if someone else near you can get it. and if you're a hitter you yell to the setter who to set to. if you want it yell your position depending on what it is. and each team has a different way ofsaying your hitting posotion for that. if you need help with getting the ball yell HELP.

  6. Of course!!  that is so the ball doesn't drop in between two people, or run into eachother.  I wouldn't recommend yelling stuff like ''You you you" because in my opinion it is very distracting to the person, and it makes me think that they are saying mine, or something like that.  It is good to call it out, because you don't want to lose a point over going for a ball that's out, right? :D

  7. Ball or Mine! - ' My ball '

Balls up! - ' When you are serving the ball RIGHT before you hit it over.'

    No! - 'Out of bounds'

Yes Yes Yes! - Balls in

    I hoped i helped

  8. Communication is the main part of volleyball.

When you want the setter to set the ball to you for a hit, call:

"OUTSIDE" if you're hitting in the front/left postion

"2" if you're hitting in the middle/front position

"RED" if you're hitting from the right/front position

"A" if you're hitting from the left/back position

"PIPE" if you're hitting from middle/back (Libero position)

"C" if you're hitting from the back/right position

When you want to call to take the ball, call:

    "I GO!"

    "MINE!"

    "ME"

When the other team hits from their front/left side, call, "OUTSIDE!"

When the other team hits from their front/right side, call, "RED!"

When the other team hits from the middle front, call, "MIDDLE!" or "2!"

If the other team hits anywhere in the back row, call, "DOWN BALL!"

When the other team tosses the ball up for an overhand serve, call, "BALLS UP!"

When the other team stands way far back from the serving line and tosses the ball up super high and does and approach for a serve, it's going to be a jump serve so call out, "WATCH THE JUMP!" or "JUMP!"

    I hope that helps. :)

  9. YOU YELL MINE WHEN YOU WANT THE BALL RIGHT BFORE YOU HIT IT AND IF YOUR A SETTER YOU YELL OUTSIDE MIDDLE OR BACK TO TELL WHO YOUR SETTING TO AND IF YOUR A HITTER YOU YELL OUTSIDE MIDDLE OR BACK TO LET THE SETTER KNOW YOUR READY FOR THE SET WHEN THE BALL IS OUT OF BOUNDS OYU YELL OUT AND WHEN THE BALL IS COMING OVER AS A BUMP YOU YELL FREE BALL

  10. No offense to the other answerers, but I will keep this brief, but informative:

    1. The obvious OUT/IN

    2. DEEP/SHORT, do people are aware of where the ball is

    3. GOT IT! MINE! Call them off, if you've got it, no collisions!

    4. Call for a hit (left, right, middle, ypu, here, your name, position number (1-6) etc.

    5. UP!! If you save a ball with a nice dig, so the setter knows you got it.

    6. FREE! If if is over bumped and coming to no particular person/place, like a hit would.

    7. CHEERING! After plays, nice serves, aces, smashes, etc.

  11. make sure to call the ball when u go after it and if the ball is out makesure to yell it and when a serve is short make sure to yell short so that way there are no mistakes
