Hole in the fence...

was just wondering what people think about this it made me think

NAILS IN THE FENCE

Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence.

(Most importantly the last sentence)

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence He said, "You

have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But it won't matter how many times you say 'I'm sorry', the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Remember that friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us."

  1. Cool, It makes sense

  2. I'm thinking that I've considered that a good one since it made the email circuit three or four years ago.

  3. What an amazing story!! Thanks!!

It makes me think that if you wanna be a good friend, you've gotta help when you can, if you've got some positive input, say it. They may not use your advise, but the more friends give positive advice, the more options that person has to fit his or her situation. If you have nothing good to say, simply shut up. Negative comments are recieved as comments, and that's it. They'll never get anyone anywhere, not even yourself. You don't vent when you wine, you keep reminding yourself of a bad situation. One has to move on and forget to forgive.

  4. wow thats deep i am going to use that when i have kids if i have kids anyway where did you get that

  5. I love this! It is so deep and so true, and I think it is said in such an easy, simple way.

To me, it is saying that we really need to think before we speak or act. Sometimes we just do things without really thinking about the consequences to other people, and then, if things go badly, apologize and move on. We need to realize that, while apologizing is important and can help, it does not fix everthing. Once something is said or done, that is it so to really be a better person we need to change how we act in the first place, not just how we respond to our mistakes.

Thank you so much for sharing this, it is absolutely beautiful.

  6.      I think that's extremely good.  It's a fable in the highest sense  Very well done.

    Good luck
