There are so many prophecies that have not come true and I believe this one (2012) will also not come true. It is kinda scary though with what's going on in the Middle East and now in Georgia and the entire Russia vs Nato stand off and that insane government in Iran. If things escalate, I could see a major war happening in the near future. but end of the world.... no.

The first thing is that I don't think ANYTHING is going to happen. The second thing is, what is predicted is not the end, but a great change. I do wish it could be. If things don't change, it will be doomsday.

I've never heard anyone say that. These people are the same ones that said that the world would end come 2000, then they changed their minds and said that it actually was year 2001. I believe the end will come like a thief in the night, totally unexpected.

It amuses me. I know a few people that truely believe the world will end, what is it? 12/21/2012... And they live there lives based on that. Not caring about financial responsiblity, saving, investing, etc. Because to them, they have no future to plan for. It's ridiculous. Yes, I believe you should take advantage of every day because you never know when your time will come, but do things in moderation. "Live like you were dying" but know that if you do infact wake up tomorrow, you need a place to live and money to survive, so don't go too crazy!!

People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries. It was supposed to end in 2000, most recently. I understand that 2012 has some special significance...and that there was some discussion of the Mayan calendar with regard to this year. I believe all those theories have been dismissed as false.

Well, I really do think that we should start saving water, energy, fuel. Otherwise, Global Warming will get worse and maybe not 2012, but maybe 2020-or something---things might get worse if we don't treat Earth nicely.

Like in China, it's all hazy and stuff-if that keeps up, more animals will die and we will be the cause of Earth's fall.

I heard the same thing in 1999 and 1979.  End of the world predictions come and go.  The one thing that they have in common is that they are always wrong.

I think there's a good chance the earth's orbit is going to change a bit, and the poles will shift as the planet changes it's axis. this will be due to the planetary alignment that happens every 26,000 years.

I do not believe the "world will end" but will change dramatically.

Other sources say it's simply the dawning of a new age "age of aquarius" rather than the end of the world.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing for myself if anything dramatic happens on that date. It's supposed to happen on December 21, 2012, and 12/21 also happens to be my birthday. :-)

    * Patrick Geryl predicts a pole reversal. This has happened many times in the past. Geryl also predicts that the Earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, although a geomagnetic reversal does not require the Earth to change its rotation direction. He does not explain from where the required energy will come. The Earth functions as a gigantic gyroscope. The energy required to rotate the poles would be immense.[16]

    * Riley Martin claims that Biaviian aliens will allow passage aboard their 'Great Mother Ship' when the Earth is 'transformed' in 2012.

Other prophecies and apocalyptic writings and hypotheses for this year include:

    * Terence McKenna's numerological novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness.

The way I see it you could die tomorrow. You could live another 5 years. Either way what difference does it make? Live life to the fullest.

Well 2012 is actually quite the complicated subject, And many people are ignorant to such things. But I absolutely don't believe that the world will end in 2012 but 2012 is more important than many people think.

There are many stories and things to explain about it, The idea still holds significance though. A lot of people think it might end because the Mayan calendar ended at 2012. Basically there are higher and lower densities, Some believe that it is when people ascend if they are even capable of doing so. This is currently the third density. I've been even told by missionaries about there being like higher levels of heaven which still wasn't very accurate anyways obviously like most religions, But they are somewhere around the same place. But I don't want to start getting off topic here.

My advice is that whoever wants to know about these things should pay more attention and look into them themselves, You should probably search around the internet there's many places to learn about 2012. There's literally tons of people that are very logical and very smart that believe the possibility of such stories, I mean people are just ignorant and when they hear someone say 2012 is the end of the world they automatically think that there's absolutely no significance to it and don't even look anywhere into it for themselves. You shouldn't believe everything you hear but you shouldn't ignore things like that. Let's say they said the world ends 2012 and it doesn't but maybe there's still some importance...
