What are your experiences with your tongue piercing? ?

Okay, so I know for a fact that I'm getting my nipples done and an industrial in the right ear (with time to heal between, of course) done soon. I don't need any comments about how bad/ugly/immoral piercings are as it's just annoying and opinion has no bearing on what I do with my body anyway. I'm looking for real experience here.

I am also thinking of getting a couple more mods such as a tongue ring. So what are your experiences with tongue piercings? How long have you had it? Have you had any dental problems?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I have both my industrial and tongue done. I'd have to say that the tongue piercing initial piercing pain was nothing in comparison to the industrial.

My tongue was swollen for about a week, so I was lisping and eating nothing but cold soup for a while. It was so irritating, and by the 3rd day I was ready to take the damned thing out, but I am so glad I didn't! My tongue piercing is now my 2nd favourite piercing (my first is my septum).

To take care of it, I really didn't have to do much. Washed my mouth out after every meal with Gold Listerine (mouth wash... you can use any, as long as it doesn't contain alcohol). I also used a salt solution every once and a while, but it doesn't really need it... saliva is anti-bacterial, so tongue infections are very rare.

I've never had any dental problems with my tongue piercing, and I've had it for about 8 or 9 months now. Although it hurts like a ***** when you bite down on your tongue bar, so be careful (it can chip teeth).

Good luck, I think tongue piercings are completely worth it :D

  2. i got mine done about 7months ago and i have had no problems with it at all. one thing though is that your tongue swells up for about 1 to 2weeks and through that time you can only eat noodles and slimy foods like that. HOPE ALL WORKS OUT!!!
