  1. scrimmage? free ball passing, serving, try to hit them a down ball, short ball, out ball, ETC. and make them learn the difference and tell them to communicate more :)

  2. I really like the spike drill because it helps me work on my hitting (obviously!).  I also like when the coach gets on the chair and we have to play defense.  She goes to the net and start hitting them real hard and we have to pass it to the setter.  Also, I like the free ball drill but with a twist.  Instead of a setter there, its a garbage can and you can to pass or set the ball to the garbage can.  It has to go in it, and it cannot roll from the net to trash can nor bounced to the trashcan.  It's a way to help the precision of passing balls.  Another one is when you start before the serving line but your lying face down.  You tap the ball hard so that the girl/boy knows your going to hit it over the net.  Then they have to get up quickly and hustle to the spot it was hit or just a free ball.  It helps to learn how to hustle every single time for every single ball.  Hope this helps!

  3. Dog House-Teams of  three or four players get on the court. One team is in the dog house. They have to win versus another team to get out. When the team on the other side (not the dog house, but just a  regular side of the court) loses, they go to the dog house.

Queen of the Court-teams of three or four get on the court. One team on each side; one team is the queen on the court. If the team on the other side wins, they take over and become the queen team. Every time the team stays on the queen side, they get a point. The team with the most points wins.

Butterfly-The net is divided into two. One person serves the ball over the net and someone passes it, then the passer passes it to the target. The targets takes the ball they have just caught from the passer around to the serving line to serve over the net. This only requires half of the quart, so you have two of these chains going. It makes a butterfly pattern.

  4. coach on one. tiring but fun

  5. i like the pit game where your coach may spike, tip or throw the ball really far away and you need to like dive for it. It's actually really fun.

  6. umm something that is fun is a game called Queen of the court

you have 3 players on one side of the net then the rest in groups of 3 on the other side

and they play (same rules as an actual game 3 hits)

and if the side without the groups wins they stay but if the lose they go an line up and the other group takes their spot

    another would be warm up

where u just play back and forth with two people taking turns hitting and digging

  7. Kings court!

Its kinda like a game but its 2-on-2!

The kings are in one side of the court and the other people are on the other side. Whoever scores the 1st point wins and goes to the kings court and plays in the next round with the next team. (the new team serves 1st, or you can have someone throw a ball on2 the kings court) In the end you see who stayed in the kings court the longest!

  8. peppering! either playing that, 2 on 2, 6 on 6, king/queen of the court

  9. I really like the game Queens of the Court and I like when we practice a short 3 way game.

  10. Free Ball drill !!!! wat u do is set up the court like u normally would with the six players, its set up like this  (best diagram i can do) L=left R=right C= Center  TRB= temporary right back P= players waiting in line

      -------------------------NET------------...

          L-hitter                      C-hitter                 S

         L-Back                      C- Back                  TRB

    -------------------------------end line------------------------------------...

      P                             P

you have the same set up on the other side of the court

Start- both sides of the net start with the front players in blocking position at the net, coach then smacks the ball in their hand (just to make a sound) then the starting side on the starting side of the court the LH and the CH move back into position at the 10-ft line and setter faces with their right shoulder to the net or with their back slightly turned to the net in ready position, at this point the whole side yells FREE FREE FREE as many times as the coach requires before they toss the ball onto the court towards one of the players other than the setter (ball usually goes to back row) one player will then try to pass the ball to the setter who will then set to one of the hitters (the hitters should be yelling [CH yelling 2-2-2 and LH yelling 4-4-4]) the setter should say I GO or MINE b4 the set but the most important part is that as soon as they set the ball to yell out the number of the player they set to, (since the sets are usually in the middle of the two hitters,) the hitters should then try to do a four step approach to the ball then spiking it over........... the other side of the net should try to receive the spike ( dig the ball) to the setter (or just block to begin with) then the setter sets the ball and the hitter hits it, This play is basically repeated until one side loses the point, then the winning side should receive the next toss from the coach......if a point is lost because a ball drops without an attempted dive or roll, the coach usually tells the girl or multiple girls to "hit the floor" (hav them do a dive or roll) the 'moral story" of this drill is communication. omg i forgot something important, after a play the losing team rotates (hence the two lines of players at the end line) the setters just switch, the winning side does not rotate , oh and if the setter cannot reach a pass they hav to yell HELP so someone else can get it.  ........................................... i hope this was understandable, i just did the drill today and its helped me a ton with understanding the game, i was the setter, it may sound confusing at first and like it will be hard to explain to the players but all 40 girls at my freshman camp picked up on it really quickly,

  11. well, this is kinda experienced so i guess it depends on how good your team is...

well i have two favorite drills

one is you get in ready posistion and you hit a down ball to one side of the person.

they dive and roll(backwards) straight back to ready posistion to get another ball, the mor reps the harder the attack and the quicker the pace.

my other favorite is when you have three people throwing, attacking, lobbing balls at the single person on the court. you have a target and it is the persons goal to hit every ball to the target. for every ball that the person lets drop they have to do three laps around the gym (:

  12. i dont enjoy the drills as much as i enjoy playing games to practice the skills. like doughnut for example. there r 2 ppl on da court and you have to have 3 touches one each side. after u send the ball over the net u have to touch the antenna. (its short court... 10ft line to da net.) and you can only tip the ball over the net! its really fun
