  1. SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!!!

    classic.

  2. I'll give you three long quotes

    ====================

    (1) The character of Antony in Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar protesting to the crowd that he is not a great speaker, right in the middle of one of the greatest speeches of all time.

    ------------------------------------

    "For I have neither wit, nor words, nor worth,

    Action, nor utterance, nor the power of speech,

    To stir men's blood: I only speak right on;"

    ======================================...

    (2) My favorite quotes from Iago in Shakespeare's Othello is actually a pair of quotes. These quotes show how he is able to eloquently argue both sides of any bit of human nature, depending on which side is to his advantage at the time. The two quotes are about reputation. The lead is from Cassio (one of several people he is ruthlessly manipulating).

    ----------------------------

    Cassio. Reputation, reputation, reputation! O! I have lost my reputation. I have lost the immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestial. My reputation, Iago, my reputation!

    Iago. As I am an honest man, I thought you had received some bodily wound; there is more offence in that than in reputation. Reputation is an idle and most false imposition; oft got without merit, and lost without deserving: you have lost no reputation at all, unless you repute yourself such a loser.

    ---------------------------

    Iago. Good name in man and woman, dear my lord,

    Is the immediate jewel of their souls:

    Who steals my purse steals trash; 'tis something, nothing;

    'Twas mine, 'tis his, and has been slave to thousands:

    But he that filches from me my good name

    Robs me of that which not enriches him

    And makes me poor indeed.

    ================================

    (3) Margaret Chase Smith in a "Declaration of Conscience" as a junior senator attacking one of the nastiest and most powerful man ever to be elected to the U.S. Senate (Joseph McCarthy) in 1950.

    -------------------

    Those of us who shout the loudest about Americanism in making character assassinations are all too frequently those who, by our own words and acts, ignore some of the basic principles of Americanism:

    The right to criticize;

    The right to hold unpopular beliefs;

    The right to protest;

    The right of independent thought.

    The exercise of these rights should not cost one single American citizen his reputation or his right to a livelihood nor should he be in danger of losing his reputation or livelihood merely because he happens to know someone who holds unpopular beliefs.

    Who of us doesn’t?

    Otherwise none of us could call our souls our own.

    Otherwise thought control would have set in.

  3. "As long as the world is turning and spinning, we will get dizzy and we will make mistakes."

    "It's okay Pluto, I'm not a planet either"

    "Made it ma! Top of the world!"

    "Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, and the things you never want to lose."

    "For me, happiness is the most important thing and if I'm happy then it shows in my work. In the end, all the mistakes and all the excuses are down to me. I like to feel that I'm just being my honest self and as far as I'm concerned I just want to pack in as much of life and fun."-Freddie Mercury

    "I would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful time living his life, and who had good friends, a fine family. I don't think I could ask for anything more than that, actually." -Frank Sinatra

  4. 1.  When you point one finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you.

    2.  If you concentrate on the locked door, you may miss the open window.

    3.  Be nice to people as you go up the ladder of life because you may meet those same people coming back down.

    4.

  5. If instead of a jewel, or even a flower, we could cast up the gift of a lovely thought into the heart of another, that would be giving as the angels must give.
