  1. you people have quite an imagination

  2. It is possible that Atlantis did exist.

And since the tectonic plates are always shifting, it's likely the land was ripped apart due to earth quakes and the sea reclaiming it.

Location of Atlantis has always been a mystery.

    200 million years ago:

Antarctica was near the equator and surrounded on three sides by Australia, India, Africa, and South America.

    100 million years ago:

Gondwana breaks up and the continents begin shifting in opposite directions

    60 million years ago:

Antarctica moves close to the south pole and oceans develop between Antarctica, and Africa and India. Australia and Antarctica begin to separate.

    45 million years ago:

Antarctica continues to shift toward the south pole and becomes completely surrounded by oceans.

Scientists explain these movements by the theory of plate tectonics. The surface of the earth consists of a series of plates which can move around on the earth's molten core. Different continents ride on different plates and slowly, over millions of years, the gigantic plates move across the surface of the earth like a conveyor belt. Where they collide, volcanic activity is common; where they pull apart, ocean floors and rift valleys form. Much of what we know about Antarctica's history is the result of centuries of exploration and discovery on the continent.

  3. The theory that I've heard that it was actually off the coast of Italy untily volcanic eruptions caused it to sink.  To my understanding it was around the Pompeii/Sicilian area, and they've found possible records in a recently discovered library/archive that was uncovered in Pompeii about two years ago.....of course none of it is official.  My belief is that that is the where abouts of it.

  4. Well, a while ago, a Swedish professor suggested Atlantis was actually Ireland. So the views are many and varied.

  5. People claim this theory and that theory, they twist and turn every detail to try make it somehow believable / possible, almost like what people do to Nostradamus's predictions. If I am correct the story was made famous from the philosopher, Socrates . He was told of Atlantis by his mentor, Plato. The story of Atlantis has been handed down and twisted since the 5th century BC. I, above anyone, am completely fascinated with thought of Atlantis. But, it just does not look good. Atlantis or at least Atlantis as we so famously know it probably never existed.

Am I the only person who thinks Plato and Socrates are completely overrated?

Hitler searched high and low for Atlantis, crazy b*****d believed he and his super race were the direct decendents of Atlantians.

I love all things Atlantis and hope I am wrong. Star for the topic!

EDIT: An example of changing the details is that Atlantis sank. Now people say nuclear war, earthquakes (earthquakes can not suddenly sink an entire continent). And their theory of supporting a nuclear war is that there is not proof, which I find absolutely hilarius. Atlantis's location has been thought to be at countless different locations, even  Antarctica. While yes Antarctica has drifted, that was millions and millions of years ago. Atlantis supposedly existed about 15 thousand years ago, big, big difference. All continental geographical locations are basically the same.
