What are your ideas about a Mini Cooper for a teenager?

I am 17 (almost 18) and have been driving beat up pickup since I got my license, but I am ready to upgrade. I have like $2500 in the bank, and the blue book value on my current truck is around $4750 after I fixed it up (I paid $600 so it shows how much I had to work for it haha)

So If I was able to get $8000 by my 18th birthday, my parents said they would give me 2000 more for a new car and I was looking at a Mini Cooper, and was wondering, what are your thoughts about an 18 yr old guy driving one, is it kind of a "fruity" car for a guy or is it ok?

and if it is a bad choice what else should I look at ( I do not want a mustang because of the cost of insurance and I don't want a BMW)

Well suppose you bought the car somehow and had to replace a tire for some reason, 400 dollars and take a couple of days to a week to order.  Not accounting for other work since its is a foreign sports car is outrageous.  for what you have in the bank now, you can't afford this car.  Thats what I had in the bank when I got my car and wound up with a Kia Spectra, great car!

I would say you shouldn't purchase a Mini Cooper. They are relatively expensive compared to other cars in its class. And it requires premium fuel

Well I am about to turn 16, and I might get one. I think it would look pretty g*y with a guy driving one. But then again it depends on the color, the type of tires, and the style of the car.

You're joking.  A mini cooper with the right colour and trim is potenially  one of the coolest things going.  My own choice would be a masculine british racing green (or black) with wide sports alloy wheels and a cool leather interior.

Those who knock mini coopers will do well to remember the old cliche that the size of a man's "manhood"  is invesrsely proportional to the size of his vehicles i.e. big powerful car = p***s substitute.  Yes I know its a silly saying  but search deeply and it it has some truth.

It's a chick's car.  A $35,000 toy.  Get a real vehicle.  Heck, get a truck and a motorcycle and a boat.
