Question:

What are your kids favorite books?

Trying to build a collection of children's books...

I've tried searching the internet for lists of good titles, but it's proving overwhelming. Looking for classics and less popular finds...

Any suggestions for good fiction and non-fiction books for pre-k to 2nd grade (4 to 8 years old)?

    The Brabe Tin Soldier,

My kids are older now but these are the ones that I remember reading over and over again and they still drag them out at times. Mine are 9 and 12.

  2. Are you in the Philadelphia area I have a whole bunch of Dr. Seuss, Franklin, Bearenstein Bears, Junie B. Jones and Dora books I would be happy to give you.

For your 2nd grader - Magic Tree House, A to Z Mysteries, The Boxcar Children, The color/jewel fairies, Cam Jansen, American girl series, The Hardy Boys

For your pre-K child, we did lots of Dora, Bearenstein Bears, Franklin, Care Bears, Dr. Seuss, Amelia Badelia, Young Cam Jansen

Those are a few, if you have a local library they are usually a huge help.

  3. Olivia 12: The Penderwicks, Harry Potter, Double Identity, and Matilda

Sophie 4: Junie B. Jones and some sneaky Peeky Spying (She read this herself in a month), and all the other Junie B's. She also likes Katie Kazoo and anything Dr. Seuss.

When Olivia was in 2nd grade she liked, Boxar Children and Katie Kazoo, she also read Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume

  4. I'm a kid and I find that my favourite books are harry potter but if your looking for easier books try Judy Blume or Beverly Cleary they are both quite good authors.

  5. Ask them what they like.

Second best, ask your local children's librarian.
