What are your opinions on EHARMONY?

I have heard that Eharmony is great place to meet people but I am a skeptic. The idea is kind of cheesy to me. At the same time though~ I am ready to meet someone that I could date seriously.

I would love to hear stories if you have had an experience (good or bad)... plus the idea of paying $50 a month isnt that appealing either.

thanks!

  1. first let me say i have never used eharmony. but i did meet my girlfriend on-line. i think sometimes you have to reach out of your comfort zone if you feel you are not socializing with the right crowd. we met completely by accident.i would even go as far a saying i have waited for her my whole life.if you do try one of the on-line services have patience and keep an open mind

  2. I'm married so I haven't been to eharmony or other sites (but sure see the commercials over and over on tv!) I'd say just keep your eyes open. Go with the 'if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is' rule. I've heard that a lot of married people go on those sites for affairs or 'hook ups' and that some people on those sites are really sleazy people.

Just hold your standards high, keep the eyes open and just be realistic. Good luck in finding a special 'someone'. :)

  3. Ive been on there for several months & have met around 10 gals. Dating one now for the 7th time and having a lot of fun & shes spending the weekend over here. I think I like Match better though. I like to be able to choose instead of being told who I am matched with. Some of my matches didn't seem very compatible to me. It also seems like EH has a LOT of overweight women on there. You might want to note that there are 3 women for every 2 men on there. I think your odds on Match would be better. Don't listen to the people that tell you all people you meet on-line are nuts or desperate losers cuz that's not true. I have met a few nuts though! Be careful....

  4. I didn't use Eharmony, but I used match.com, where I met my now husband. I was really skeptical at first too and thought it was corny, but it's a great way to get to know a person's personality first, that way you can see if there's a connection for who a person is on the inside.

  5. I always was able to meet with people but it never lasts.

I don't understand why they get so upset that I put "single" on the application.

I always tell them the truth before we go to the hotel.

  6. I have a friend who was matched with two clunkers from eharmony, but she did meet a lot of people that way.   The first guy was divorced, and she married him, and within six months he left her, calling her fat and ugly.  (She is gorgeous, and weight proportionate to her height)  She found out he was cheating on her, and on another online dating sight.  The second guy was nice, but turned out to be scared of committment...at fifty years old!  Now she has met a third, and he is very nice, but not into long distance relationships, and she just got a job here, so they are more like online friends.

My advice to you is to just be cautious, don't give out too much personal information, and remember that nothing is foolproof.  People might fill out those lengthy profiles with who they wish they were, not who they really are.  Good luck!  Have you tried speed dating?

  7. I've tried eharmony, match.com, singlesnet.com and most other sites.  They didn't work too well for me.  People usually lived outside of a 50 mile radius and I don't want to drive.  Don't like long distance romance either (been there, done that)  Personally I don't like the idea of paying to find someone.  So i don't bother anymore.  I leave it up to fate!

  8. I have tried most of the sites.  Eharmony, yahoo and the free ones.  Singlesnet.com.  But you know there are individuals out there that are just scammers and I have met a few.  Keep on the photo if it looks fake it probably is.  Ask several questions a different way and see how they respond.  Don't give out personal informaiton until you are ready and meet in a public place.

  9. A joke!! A real joke!! What happened to the good old days when people actually went OUTSIDE to find someone?

  10. Eharmony is a lot of work.  It's like taking the SAT's for dating.  I used match and went through alcholics/crazies/liars/jerks but didn't give up.  Met my boyfriend on it over a year ago.

  11. EHARMONY IS FOR PEOPLE THAT CAN'T FIND SOMEONE IN PERSON WHICH MEANS THERE EITHER FAT OR UGLY.

  12. I have been with a person I met on match.com for over two and a half years now.  I found it was a little easier than e-harmony because you could browse through profiles and pictures yourself and then initiate contact.  E-harmony I was matched up with people who lived far away from me and it was more expensive.

  13. Try Craigs List

  14. They told me their system wouldn't work for my personality.
